SOS Film Fest 2025 - 9th & 10th August at The Brunswick
Stories of Strength Film Festival is a community-powered film festival that celebrates bold, impactful storytelling through the lens of documentary film. Starting this year, we are proudly dedicating our programme exclusively to documentaries; real stories that move, challenge, and inspire.
Each year, we spotlight a new charitable cause, using cinema as a catalyst for change and connection. Our mission is simple: to bring people together through the power of documentary and to support meaningful causes that deserve attention and action. By attending, you're not just watching powerful stories unfold, you're becoming part of one.
This year SOS Film Fest will be raising funds to support refugees and migrant rights. 100% of proceeds will be donated to Amnesty International, UNHCR, & British Red Cross to provide essential aid and humanitarian support to affected families.

About SOS Film Fest
Our Mission
Stories of Strength Film Festival (SOSFF) was founded in 2024, by Amaar Zafar. The film festival aims to bring people together to share their stories and to foster understanding and connection between communities, while also raising funds for vital charitable causes. Through sharing films that highlight stories of strength and diversity, the festival aims to utilise the art of filmmaking to have a positive impact on the wider world.
SOS Film Fest 2024
Stories of Strength Film Festival 2024 was the first ever event for SOSFF. It was held on the 11th of August 2024 at The Brunswick, within Brighton & Hove. The goal of the event was to bring communities together, sharing inspiring stories and to raise money in order to support Palestinians in need. Through ticket sales, donations, and merchandise sales, a grand total of £815 has been raised and donated to our chosen charities: Humanity First, Anera, and Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP).
The event hosted around 40 guests and showcased a total of 9 films, created by a number of filmmakers from across the globe. The films shown included narratives, documentaries and video journalism. Each piece brought a unique perspective, encouraging audiences to spark conversations around the complex themes and issues displayed.
The films shown were: ‘The Power to Decide’ (Dir. Wojtek Perales), ‘Mind Games’ (Dir. Phillip Sutton), ‘A Well-Bread Woman’ (Dir. Jasmine Kaur Gregory), ‘The Absent Guest’ (Dir. Thomas Au), ‘The Script’ (Dir. Keith Chanakira), ‘Scars’ (Dir. Pav Kung), ‘EsCape Town’ (Dir. Colin Macrae), ‘Battleground’ (Dir. Mark Bone & Thomas Kwesi), and ‘Last May in Palestine’ (Dir. Rabeea Eid).

“Films inspire hope and they allow us to see different perspectives on life. When we come together and approach each other with sincerity and kindness, we make the world a better place.”
— Amaar Zafar
